Prime Minister Vows to Combat Racism and Promote National Unity

In a strong statement made in Parliament today, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya reaffirmed the government's commitment to defeating any attempts by groups to incite racism for political gain. She emphasized that the mandate given to the current government is a clear message from the people rejecting racism and division.

"We will take all necessary actions to prevent the spread of racism," the Prime Minister asserted, stressing that there would be no tolerance for efforts to divide the nation for petty political objectives.

Prime minister highlighted that Sri Lanka is now at a historic juncture, with a unique opportunity to unite the people. "The government will not miss this chance for national reconciliation and unity," she said, urging all citizens to embrace this moment of change.

She also called on everyone to recognize the significance of this period in Sri Lanka’s history and to work together to create a better future. "Our people are demanding change, and it is up to us to respond to that call," she added.

The Prime Minister concluded by urging collective action to ensure that Sri Lanka remains united, peaceful, and free from the divisive forces of racism.
