Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) K.B. Manathunga has been appointed as the new Director of the Police Media Division and the official Police Spokesman. This appointment comes as a part of a recent reshuffling within the Sri Lanka Police force. SSP Manathunga replaces Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nihal Thalduwa, who previously held the position.

SSP Manathunga, who has been transferred from his duties in the Kantale Division, takes over at a time when the role of the Police Spokesman is critical in ensuring effective communication between the Police and the public. The appointment is expected to strengthen the Police Media Division's efforts in disseminating accurate and timely information regarding police activities.

The transfer of SSP Manathunga comes amid an ongoing push for better transparency and public engagement by law enforcement agencies. As the new Police Spokesman, SSP Manathunga will be responsible for managing media relations, addressing public concerns, and ensuring that the police's work is accurately represented in the media.

DIG Nihal Thalduwa, who has held the position for some time, will continue to serve in his other capacities within the police force.
