The Sri Lankan Parliament is scheduled to meet from today, December 3, until December 6, to discuss crucial policy matters. The parliamentary debate on the government's policy statement, recently presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, will take place today and tomorrow.

According to the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, chaired by Speaker Asoka Sapumal Ranwala, the debate will run from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM today, and from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM tomorrow. The party leaders have also agreed to conduct a vote on the government's policy statement at 5:00 PM tomorrow.

In addition, the Committee has scheduled a debate on the government's interim standard account for the first four months of 2025, which will take place on December 5 and 6, from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on both days.

The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs also discussed a range of organizational matters, including allocating debate time for both the government and opposition, determining the composition of parliamentary committees, and establishing key committees such as the Selection Committee, Parliamentary Affairs Committee, and sectoral monitoring committees. Additionally, attention was given to a request to establish a Forum of Women Parliamentarians in the Tenth Parliament.

These sessions are set to address critical issues and ensure the effective functioning of parliamentary procedures over the next few days.
