Gayantha Karunatilake, Galle District MP from the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB), has been appointed as the Chief Opposition Whip in Parliament, as confirmed by MP Harshana Rajakaruna.
Born on August 21, 1962, Karunatilake is an experienced politician with a distinguished career. He served as Cabinet Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Affairs and as Minister of Mass Media during the Yahapalana government in 2015-2019.
He also held the roles of Cabinet Media Spokesperson, Chief Government Whip, and UNP Media Secretary.
Karunatilake is an alumnus of Royal College Colombo and has been a prominent figure in Sri Lankan politics for decades.
