South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out for the next six weeks due to a hip injury sustained during the fourth day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Durban.Coetzee underwent scans that confirmed the severity of the injury requiring extended rest and rehabilitation.
As a result, the 22-year-old will miss the second and final Test against Sri Lanka, set to begin on December 5, as well as South Africa's upcoming series against Pakistan. The team has named Kwena Maphaka as his replacement for the remainder of the series.
Coetzee's injury is a significant blow to South Africa's fast bowling attack, as the young pacer had impressed with his performances in recent matches. Maphaka, a promising talent, will now look to make his mark in the absence of Coetzee.
South Africa will hope that Coetzee's recovery goes smoothly as they prepare for future challenges, with the team continuing to search for success against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
