The Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team has advanced to the semi-finals of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2024 with an unbeaten record, securing their spot with one game still remaining in the group stage.

In their 2nd Group stage match against Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium today (December 1), Sri Lanka claimed a dominant 131-run victory.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 243/7, thanks to a stellar century by Sharujan Shanmuganathan, nicknamed "Little Sanga," who scored 102 runs off 132 balls.

Afghanistan's batting lineup faltered in their response, managing only 112 runs in 28.2 overs. This marked Afghanistan's second loss in the tournament, following a 45-run defeat to Bangladesh. They will now aim to recover in their upcoming match against Nepal.

Sri Lanka, leading Group ‘B,’ will conclude the group stage with a match against Bangladesh on Tuesday, December 3.
