Traffic on the Matale-Kurunegala road has come to a complete halt following a devastating landslide in the Bambaragahakanda area of the Delvita Police Division.

The landslide, which has affected approximately 50 acres of land, has caused significant disruption, with the main Ovilikanda road to Matale-Kurunegala being completely blocked.

As a result, three hundred families living in the villages of Bambaragahakande, Kalugaha Thanna, and Uda Thanna are now facing immediate danger. The landslide has put their homes at risk, prompting urgent response efforts from local authorities.

In response to the crisis, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) has been working swiftly to evacuate residents from the affected areas to safer locations. Emergency teams are on the ground, assisting with the relocation and ensuring that those at risk are moved to safety.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid the affected areas and follow any instructions issued by the DMC and local officials to prevent further harm.

The situation remains critical, with efforts ongoing to assess the full extent of the damage and mitigate further risks.
