The recommencement of the 2024 GCE Advanced Level Examination will be determined after reviewing weather conditions and flood-affected areas after November 29, according to Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha.
During a special media briefing, he noted that rainfall is expected to decrease after November 29, as per the Meteorology Department. Authorities will assess the situation, focusing on whether flood-hit regions are accessible.
Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha stated that in addition to the weather conditions, the well-being of students should also be taken into account, allowing them sufficient time to regain focus and adjust before the exams resume.
The Department of Examinations will finalize and announce the new exam dates based on these evaluations. The A/Level exam, which began on November 25, was suspended for three days starting today (27 November) due to severe weather across several districts.
