The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre has issued a red alert for a low-pressure area in the southeast Bay of Bengal, valid until 4:00 p.m. on November 25, 2024.

The warning predicts very heavy rainfall exceeding 150 mm in parts of the Eastern Province. Other regions, including the Northern, North-Central, Central, and Uva Provinces, as well as the Hambantota District, may experience rainfall over 100 mm.
