The Nilwala River has risen to minor flood levels due to ongoing rainy weather, the Department of Irrigation reported.

In the Thalagahagoda area, the river's water level has surpassed the minor flood threshold. However, in Panadugama, where water levels were previously rising, the situation has improved as floodwaters have begun to recede.

The Meteorological Department has also issued an advisory predicting widespread rainfall across Sri Lanka due to a low-pressure area developing in the Bay of Bengal.

Residents in low-lying areas near the Nilwala River are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions as weather conditions may continue to develop to the worst.
