Local Government Elections Set for Early Next Year

Minister Vijitha Herath, announced that the Local Government Elections will be held at the beginning of next year. He shared this update with the media in Kandy today (November 23).
Herath explained that although the Supreme Court had ordered the elections be held soon, the required provisions were not made for them to take place this year.
He confirmed that the elections for Pradeshiya Sabhas and Urban Councils are now scheduled for early 2025.
