She was arrested in connection with allegations of using a luxury car that was illegally imported and assembled in Sri Lanka. Police found the unregistered vehicle during a search at a three-story house in Mirihana, reportedly linked to her.
Both Shashi Prabha Ratwatte and her husband claimed the house belonged to her mother, and the car was brought there weeks earlier by Ratwatte’s private secretary. The secretary was recently found dead from gunshot wounds in Katugastota, Kandy. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
