A 35 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of 7.5 million rupees in the Minuwangoda area. The suspect identified as Tammita a resident of Makavita, was employed as a driver by a private company that specializes in transporting money safely.
The theft occurred when Tammita allegedly stole a large sum while on duty. Investigations into the incident were launched by the Gampaha Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau (DCIB) and the Minuwangoda Police. Based on information gathered during the investigation, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect in the Kaduwangaha area of Gampaha.
In addition to the stolen money, authorities reportedly found 5 grams of the drug 'ice,' which is valued at 420 grams, further complicating the case.
The Gampaha DCIB and Minuwangoda Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the theft and the suspect's involvement in the drug-related matter.
