Sri Lanka secured a 2-0 victory in the ODI series against New Zealand after the third match, played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium today, was declared a no-result due to rain.
New Zealand was 112/1 in 21 overs when the rain interrupted play, preventing the match from continuing.
Kusal Mendis was named Player of the Series for his outstanding performances throughout the series.
New Zealand, taking advantage of favorable batting conditions, reached 112/1. The match was interrupted by rain around 4 p.m. local time. A brief pause in the rain at 5 p.m. offered hope for a shortened game, but the downpour resumed, washing away any chances of further play.
Sri Lanka added another milestone to their impressive 2024 campaign, clinching their fifth ODI series win of the year
