The Court of Appeal has allowed the Attorney General (AG) until November 29 to file objections to the bail petition submitted by former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte.

The case was heard today (November 19) by a two-member Appeals Court judge panel, including Court of Appeal President Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice Shashi Mahendran.

During the proceedings, the Additional Solicitor General, representing the AG, requested four weeks to prepare and submit objections. However, Ratwatte's legal counsel, President’s Counsel Sanjay Rajarathna, opposed the request and urged the court to provide a shorter timeframe.

Responding to the arguments, the court ordered the AG's Department to file objections by November 29 and scheduled the next hearing for December 9.
