Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been appointed to one of the two National List Member of Parliament (MP)positions allocated to the New Democratic Front (NDF) following the party's performance in this year's parliamentary elections. The decision comes after the NDF secured a significant number of votes in the election.

Sharmila Perera, the General Secretary of the NDF, has officially communicated the appointment through a letter forwarded to the relevant authorities. Karunanayake, who previously served as Finance Minister, brings a wealth of experience to the legislative body.

The National List MPs are appointed based on the proportion of votes a party receives, and Karunanayake's inclusion reflects the NDF's strong showing in the elections. His appointment is expected to further bolster the party's representation in Parliament and contribute to the ongoing political discourse.

Karunanayake, a seasoned politician with a long career in Sri Lankan politics, will now resume his role in the legislature, where he is expected to play a pivotal part in shaping the future direction of the NDF.

The second National List MP position will be filled in the coming days as part of the party's strategy to strengthen its parliamentary presence.
