Minister Vijitha Herath announced that Sri Lanka will receive a new shipment of passports next Saturday, with distribution starting on October 21.
This update came during a press briefing following a Cabinet meeting, where he also addressed legal issues regarding the e-passport system, currently hindered by a court injunction.
To prevent future passport shortages, the government plans to initiate a procurement process for regular passports.
