Sri Lankan police have arrested another group of 15 Chinese nationals in Kotte, suspected of involvement in online financial scams. This brings the total number of Chinese arrests in October to around 180.
Police spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa says that 15 desktop computers and 15 mobile phones were seized during this latest operation. 129 Chinese nationals were arrested in Kundasale, where authorities confiscated over 100 laptops and numerous mobile devices from a luxury bungalow.
20 Chinese nationals were also detained in Panadura for staying without valid visas, alongside a large haul of electronic devices linked to potential fraud.
Additionally, a raid on October 6th in Gampaha led to the arrest of 40 foreigners, including 30 Chinese, along with significant quantities of mobile phones and computers.
