President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Confident Ahead of Parliamentary Elections
He acknowledged the challenges faced during the presidential campaign, including the ruling camp's media and state power influence, but said the public’s faith in the NPP prevailed.
“The people placed their faith in us despite the ruling camp’s vast resources,” he said.
Dissanayake emphasized that while strong leadership is needed to transform Sri Lanka, the three-member Cabinet, including himself, is insufficient to drive the necessary changes. He called for a strong mandate in the 14th November elections, urging voters to send capable representatives to Parliament.
“To make our transformation agenda a reality, we need a strong political force in Parliament,” he said.
Dissanayake contrasted the NPP’s vision with the failures of previous parliamentary majorities under Mahinda and Gotabaya Rajapaksa, stressing the need for quality representation. He pledged that the NPP would restore public trust and clean up the political system.
