Former MP Ajith Mannapperuma, who submitted his nomination to contest the general elections from the Gampaha District under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has announced his withdrawal from the race and resignation from the party.
Speaking at a press conference today (12th October), Mannapperuma expressed disappointment over being removed as SJB chief organizer for Gampaha and criticized party leader Sajith Premadasa for appointing a new organizer without his knowledge.
“I am a candidate on the SJB list for the Gampaha District in this general election. I have also served as the organizer for the Gampaha constituency for 20 years. However, even though I submitted my nomination as a candidate for the SJB this time, I intended to refrain from asking for votes,” he stated.
He urged voters not to support him in the upcoming election.
