The submission of nominations for the 2024 General Election concluded at 12 noon today (11th October), with the Election Commission allowing objections to be filed until 1.30 p.m.
So far, 147 political parties and 94 independent groups have submitted nominations, while 349 independent groups have placed deposits for the election.
Commissioner General of Elections, stated that details regarding candidate spending limits under the Election Expenses Regulation Act will be released soon.
Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa confirmed special security measures at district secretariats and the Election Commission office in Rajagiriya during this period.
