This morning two buses belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board were involved in a collision along the Colombo-Kandy main road in the Walakadayawa area of Uthuwankanda. The incident has resulted in injuries to at least 18 passengers.
According to Kegalle Police, the crash occurred when a bus traveling from Panadura to Kandy collided with the rear of another bus en route from Kegalle to Mawanella. Emergency services responded promptly, and the injured were transported to Kegalle and Mawanella hospitals for treatment.
Authorities suspect that a technical fault in the Panadura bus may have caused the driver to lose control, leading to the unfortunate accident. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
