In a special search operation carried out by the Prisons Department's Emergency Response Unit in Galle Prison, 52 mobile phones, chargers, data cables and other accessories were seized from two cells.
The search operation was carried out yesterday (06) in the morning and in the afternoon, where these mobile phones and accessories were found in the 'A' and 'B' prison wards.
It is reported that there were 07 smart phones among these mobile phones.
According to the prison sources, these mobile phones were carefully hidden in the walls, mats and pillows of the cells.
