A senior official of SriLankan Airlines told Independent Television that this step was taken due to the war situation in the Middle East region.

With Iran's missile attacks on Israel, SriLankan Airlines has taken steps to avoid the Iraqi airspace and use the new air route through Egypt.

SriLankan Airlines says that there may be a slight change in the time taken for the respective flight.

We have now changed the London flight route and now flying via Egypt skies,” the official told EconomyNext.

“The new route takes 30 mts longer than the usual route and the flights carry extra fuel in the new route.”

It is also said that this is a temporary measure takwn by the Airline.
