Sri Lanka’s Tourism Revenue Hits USD 181 Million in September

Sri Lanka's tourism sector generated USD 181 million in foreign exchange revenue in September 2024, marking a significant increase from the USD 152 million earned in the same month last year, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
Tourism revenue for the first nine months of 2024 surged by 61.2%, reaching USD 2.35 billion, compared to USD 1.46 billion during the same period in 2023.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority reported 122,140 tourist arrivals in September, up 9.11% from the previous year. So far, 1.48 million tourists have visited the country in 2024, with expectations of reaching 2.3 million by year’s end.
