Sri Lanka secured a dominant victory over New Zealand in the second and final Test in Galle, winning by an innings and 154 runs to seal the series 2-0. After a close contest in the opening Test, Sri Lanka took control of the final game, dominating throughout.

With this victory, Sri Lanka's Percentage Points (PCT) in the World Test Championship (WTC) increased from 50 to 55.55, solidifying their third-place position. They are now just behind second-placed Australia, who hold a PCT of 62.5.

Sri Lanka now have a realistic chance of reaching the WTC final, with four Test matches remaining in this cycle, two against South Africa and two against Australia. To stay in contention, they must win at least one Test in South Africa.
