The Sri Lankan Consulate in Lebanon has confirmed that Sri Lankans residing there are safe, despite the ongoing war situation.
Sri Lankan Ambassador in Lebanon,Kapila Jayaveera stated that the consulate maintains close communication with the Sri Lankans in Lebanon. Nearly 7,600 Sri Lankan workers are employed in Lebanon, with the majority living in the southern Lebanon.
Sri Lankan Mission in Lebanon warned its citizens to temporarily refrain from visiting crowded places, public events, and long-distance tours.
The Sri Lankan Mission has also warned Sri Lankans to avoid using communication-related equipment during this period.
In the past few days, Israel launched airstrikes targeting the Hezbollah organisation in Lebanon in the northern part of the country and no Sri Lankans are living in the conflict zones.
