Former Minister Kanchana Wijesekara urges Government to Remove Fuel Tax

Former Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has called on the government to fulfill its promise of removing the tax on fuel, which could lead to a significant drop in prices. He noted that the tax is currently around Rs. 150 per liter as they said election rallies and urged for its removal on the scheduled fuel price revision on 30th September.

According to Former Minister, a liter of diesel can be sold for Rs. 100 without any tax. He also thanked the government for continuing to implement relief measures that were delayed due to the election commission's orders.

Additionally, he urged the government to expedite the approval of an electricity price revision planned for October by the Ceylon Electricity Board, and to send it to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka for approval without delay.
