The National Dengue Control Unit has reported that dengue cases in Sri Lanka have surpassed 38,000 so far this year. Consultant Community Physician at the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Anoja Dheerasinghe highlighted that a significant number of cases have been recorded in Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts.

Efforts are being made to decrease the growing number of cases. In addition to the western districts, high numbers of dengue cases have also been reported recently in Kandy, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, Kegalle, and Ratnapura.
