Sri Lanka Police announced that all police personnel assigned to provide security to former Parliamentarians have been recalled starting today. Exceptions have been made for security provided to the former Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Opposition Leader.
This follows President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's dissolution of Parliament, effective from midnight on 24th September. The general election is scheduled for 14th November, with the new Parliament set to convene on 21st November 2024.
