Mr. Rohana Hettiarachchi, Executive Director of People's Action for Free & Fair Elections PAFFREL has deployed 160 long-term observers to monitor the presidential election. They indent to deploy 5,000 observers, including 3,000 stationed observers, 164 mobile observer units and the LTOs, to observe the Election Day process.

For their social media monitoring, PAFFREL partnered with Hashtag Generation and the Election Commission. PAFFREL monitoring showed that from 17 August to 11 September 2024, 195 social media posts were marked as election law violations while 186 were found to be community standards violations

Total of 164 violations of the Election Law have been reported today,

The violations reported are related to attacks on political party/candidate Offices, carrying out Illegal election propaganda, maintaining Illegal party offices, influencing voters, irregularities relating to Ballot Papers, 

PAFFREL further said that the 2024 Presidential Election has been mostly peaceful. 

Election Commission Chairman also said that no major incidents of election law violations have been reported so far.
