Presidential candidate Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya plans to modernize free education in Sri Lanka, drawing inspiration from India's successful education model.

He expressed his goal to transform the Colombo district into a leading educational hub, highlighting the need for English language-centered education and integrating information technology from grades 1 to 13.

He acknowledged the challenges associated with these reforms, referencing recent unrest at Sri Jayewardenepura University. Despite opposition, he remains committed to these changes, which he believes are essential for the 4.1 million schoolchildren in the island.

In addition to educational reforms, he highlighted the importance of economic recovery through increased IT exports and the establishment of IT parks across constituencies.

Premadasa criticized the current political landscape, describing the presidency of Ranil Wickremesinghe and the candidacy of Anura Kumara Dissanayake as driven by jealousy, hatred, and incompetence. He referred to their political alliance as a "political marriage" and predicted its end on the 21st, with the people's support.
