The South Asia Dialogue Platform (SADP) for Anticipatory Action commenced at the Hilton Colombo, bringing together key regional leaders and stakeholders to enhance disaster preparedness across South Asia.

Disaster management strategies should prevent crises before they happen, which is why international government representatives, humanitarian organizations, academia, and participants from South Asian countries came together in Colombo today for the Sri Lanka Dialogue Platform.

Deputy Chief of Mission Doug Sonnek spoke about how the United States--through USAID Sri Lanka--is funding programs to reduce the impact of floods, droughts, and other crises on Sri Lankan communities.

Organized by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society in collaboration with the Disaster Management Division of the Ministry of Defence, International Water Management Institute, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, World Vision, World Food Programme and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, this landmark event marks a significant step in advancing anticipatory action in disaster management.
