Sajith Premadasa Vows to Support Traditional Arts and Crafts
In a recent statement Mr. Premadasa outlined his plans to support individuals involved in arts and crafts, emphasizing the importance of preserving the country's cultural legacy.
Sajith Premadasa announced that, following a victory on September 21st, his administration will issue specialized Identification Cards at the local government level for those involved in arts and crafts.
He also promised to introduce legislation aimed at ensuring respect and recognition for professionals in these sectors. "We need to award the due respect and honor to the traditional heritage of this country," opposition leader stated.
He highlighted the potential to integrate tourism with the arts and crafts sector to boost foreign exchange earnings. He also revealed plans to establish a special Presidential Task Force dedicated to uplifting local traditional culture and ensuring its sustainability.
These measures, according to Premadasa, are designed to both preserve and promote Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage.
