Minister Ali Slabry Apologizes for Passport Issue

The Immigration & Emigration Department says until a permanent solution is found, the department will issue only 750 passports per day, in the order of arrival.

This decision comes in response to the limited supply of blank passports currently available to the department.

Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Ali Sabry has issued an apology on behalf of the government for the ongoing passport issue that has caused significant inconvenience to the general public. 

Minister revealed that a new electronic passport system will be implemented as soon as possible to streamline the process and prevent future shortages.

He also announced that the new batch of passports is expected to arrive by 16 th October.
