The Cabinet has approved to increase the fertilizer subsidy to 25,000 rupees from the 2024 season.
Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera says government decided to increase the amount of subsidy given to buy fertilizer for paddy cultivation to 25,000 rupees from the 2024 season.
Minister Amaraweera said that this fertilizer subsidy was given in the form of Rs 10,000 in the yala season and it was decided to increase the amount to 15,000 rupees from the next season
In addition to this, the Minister stated that since MOP has taken steps to provide the entire amount required for paddy cultivation free of charge, the entire amount of fertilizer required for paddy cultivation will be available to the farmers for free.
