Supreme Court to hear petitions against Adani Wind Power Plant in Mannar

Five Fundamental Rights applications seeking an order to prevent authorities from issuing any permits to Adani Green Energy Sri Lanka Limited (AGESL) for operating the wind power plant on Mannar Island have been scheduled for hearing on October 14 by the Supreme Court.

These petitions will be heard before the Supreme Court's fuller bench on the next hearing date.

Several petitioners, including the Centre for Environmental Justice and the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka, filed these applications, seeking an order to prevent authorities, including the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, from proceeding with the Mannar wind power project (Phase II).
