Anura Kumara Dissanayake, leader of the National People's Power (NPP), stated today that many Parliamentarians who are planning to form an alliance with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) on August 8 had initially sought to join the NPP but were turned away due to their tainted political histories.
Speaking at a farmers' rally in Bulnewa, Anuradhapura, Dissanayake emphasized that the NPP would not align with MPs responsible for the country's past political failures. "Most of the MPs who are said to form an alliance with the SJB on August 8 discussed with us to align with the NPP. We refused to align with them. We will not take anyone who has been engaged in the destruction of the country and have supported wrong decisions," he asserted.
