Election Commission greenlights 2025 transfers

The Election Commission has given the green light for the 2025 annual transfer procedure to proceed, provided it does not disrupt the upcoming presidential election process.
In response, the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government has announced the 2025 annual transfer schedule for officers within the Combined Services.
On July 29, the Director General of Combined Services issued the transfer circular to all Ministry Secretaries, Heads of Departments, District Secretaries, and Divisional Secretaries, outlining the transfer details.
In preparation for the presidential election, Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe has directed the deployment of 8,000 officers to handle the distribution of official ballot papers. A specialized program has been set up to ensure the efficient delivery of postal ballots and important correspondence.
In addition, despite the ongoing 'work-to-rule' campaign by the All-Island Grama Niladhari Officers’ Association, President Nandana Ranasinghe has assured that their support for the presidential election activities remains steadfast.
