The Supreme Court's fuller bench, headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, is set to hear a Fundamental Rights petition against the Presidential Election on Monday.

Chief Justice Jayasuriya has nominated a five-judge bench to hear the petition, which seeks to restrain the Election Commission from proceeding with the 2024 Presidential Election.

Businessman Chamindra Dayan Lenawa from Panadura filed the petition, requesting that the Election Commission refrain from conducting the election until the Supreme Court resolves the issue of the incumbent President's tenure.
