SriLankan Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Jakarta

A SriLankan Airlines flight operating from Melbourne to Colombo declared an emergency and diverted earlier today due to a medical problem on board.

SriLankan Airlines flight UL605, an Airbus A330-300 operating from Melbourne Airport (MEL) was en route to Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB).

The flight was at cruising level to the south of Indonesia when flight crew declared a general emergency with transponder code 7700.

Flight crew then elected to divert north from their position to Jakarta Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK).

The flight subsequently landed at the diversion airport in Jakarta at 20:56 local time.
