The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Ministry of Transport and Highways as the implementing agency for a pioneering project on sustainable and efficient electric mobility systems.
The project is endorsed by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and funded by the Green Environment Fund to the tune of US$ 1.09 million.
Initially designated to be overseen by the Ministry of Environment, the project's scope and requirements have prompted a reevaluation of the implementing agency. The Ministry of Transport and Highways, equipped with the necessary infrastructure and expertise, has been identified as better positioned to effectively execute the project in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
"The Ministry of Transport and Highways is pleased to take on the responsibility of implementing this groundbreaking initiative," stated the Minister of Transport and Highways, emphasizing the ministry's readiness to lead the nation towards a more sustainable future in transportation.
