Israeli tourist Tamar Amitai, 25, who went missing on Wednesday (26) while visiting Sri Lanka, has been found, police said.

Amitai, who arrived in Sri Lanka on June 22, was traveling alone in Trincomalee. She had booked a room at the Rolex Guest House in Trincomalee, where she checked in on June 22. The guesthouse owner reported her missing after she failed to return since Wednesday.

Uppuweli Police launched an investigation following the guesthouse owner's complaint. Despite extensive efforts, no information was available until this morning.

Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman announced that Amitai was found through a special operation involving the police, army, Divisional Secretariat, Uppuvali Pradhya Sabha, and Eastern Province Tourism Bureau, monitored by the Governor’s Secretariat.

Amitai was found at Sallikovil, a few kilometers from her hotel, after the committee's formation. She had fallen unconscious while visiting the area but is now in good condition, with no signs of physical or sexual assault.
