The Speaker of Parliament has announced the Supreme Court’s determination on the proposed Sri Lanka Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill.

According to the Supreme Court, several clauses of the Bill are inconsistent with the Constitution.

As per the court’s ruling, these clauses will require a special majority in Parliament to be passed. However, if the contentious clauses are amended, they can be passed with a simple majority.
