The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB) has announced an interruption in the water supply affecting the areas of Godagama, Homagama, Pannipitiya, Pelanwatta, Rukmalgama, and Mattegoda. The disruption will continue until further notice.
The interruption is due to significant damage to the transmission pipeline from the Kalatuwawa Treatment Plant. Reports indicate that the pipeline burst at Godagama near the High-Level Road following a vehicular accident.
Early this morning, a car veered off the road and collided with the pipeline, causing the severe damage now impacting water supply to these areas.
Repair efforts are underway, but the NWS&DB has not yet provided an estimate for when the water supply will be restored.
