On June 13, the average price of coconuts in Sri Lanka increased by 1.5%, reaching 77,314 rupees per 1,000 nuts, according to data from the Coconut Development Authority. 

This marks a 20% rise in coconut prices compared to May at the weekly auction.

The highest price recorded at the auction was 86,200 rupees per 1,000 nuts, up from 82,700 rupees, while the lowest price was 66,000 rupees, slightly down from 67,000 rupees. Out of the 844,787 coconuts offered, 732,443 were sold.

Wholesale prices ranged from 95 to 110 rupees for large nuts and 85 to 90 rupees for small nuts in the week leading up to June 13. In Kurunegala, farmgate prices were between 72,000 and 75,000 rupees per 1,000 nuts.

Coconut oil was priced between 570,000 and 610,000 rupees per metric ton, while coconut shells were valued at 32,000 to 34,000 rupees per metric ton.
