A group of retired senior police officials expressed disapproval of former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne and former Director of Criminal Investigation Department, SSP Shani Abeysekera, for joining the National People’s Power (NPP).

Former IGP Chandra Fernando emphasized that the police department's esteemed 150-year-old history should remain separate from politics. He highlighted concerns over the involvement of officers who previously investigated violence now aligning with those allegedly associated with it.

Retired DIG Palitha Siriwardane criticized the CID officers for their handling of the Easter Sunday attack and the closure of the investigation into the 2018 murders at Vavnathivu police station, attributing blame to the LTTE instead of Zaharan's group.

Other retired officials including Former Senior DIG Edison Gunathilake, SP Norton de Silva, Senior DIG Sumith Edirisinghe, ASP Senaka Kumarasinghe, SP Jayantha Herath, and others also expressed their concerns at the media conference.
