The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has set July 18 to consider Aura Lanka Chairman Viranjith Thambugala’s request to provide a confidential statement.

Today (June 13), Colombo Additional Magistrate Pavitra Pathiraja presided over the case involving alleged financial fraud by Thambugala. However, CID officers were absent from court proceedings.

Consequently, the Additional Magistrate instructed for the confidential statement request to be resubmitted at the next hearing.

Earlier, on May 22, businessman Viranjith Thambugala, Chairman of Aura Lanka, was arrested by police for alleged misappropriation of nearly Rs. 70 million. He was later granted bail after appearing before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
