Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Pakistan, Admiral Ravindra C Wijegunaratne (Retired), met with Pakistan's Secretary of Defence, Lieutenant General (Retired) Hamood Uz Zaman Khan, HI(M), at the Defence Ministry in Rawalpindi. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence ties, according to a statement from the mission.

The officials reviewed the progress made since the Pakistan Defence Secretary’s visit to Sri Lanka on January 3, 2024, during the fourth Sri Lanka-Pakistan Defence Dialogue. These talks aim to enhance defence cooperation and fortify military relations between the two countries.

Admiral Wijegunaratne, a former Navy Commander and Chief of Defence Staff of Sri Lanka, is a distinguished alumnus of the Pakistan Navy War College, class of 1995/96. He is also the only Sri Lankan military officer to have received Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), awarded by the President of Pakistan in 2019.
