President Ranil Wickremesinghe has re-appointed General Shavendra Silva as the Chief of Defence Staff for the period of seven months.
An extra ordinary gazette has been issued extending the term of Silva as the CDS in terms of Section 3 of the Chief of Defence Staff Act, No. 35 of 2009.
Accordingly, General Silva was appointed for the period of June 01, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
General Silva was appointed as Chief of Defence Staff on June, 1 2022.
